They say age is just a number. I guess it goes the same when it comes to sex.
Asking this is like asking the chicken and egg eternal question. I know, a gazillion articles have been posted about sex in older people. But this was a shock to me in a way. For starters, I'm not 50 yet. I hope I'll live beyond 50. When I saw a clip from the Today show about sex at aged 50 and above, it really caught my attention. And believe, it's not easy to catch my attention.
Listen to this, and I quote from the article, "Many couples, however, report the best sex they have ever had after 50. Both men and women may become more comfortable with their bodies, know what works best for each other, and feel generally less inhibited. " I really have to exactly stress that phrase because we all have this pre-conceived notion that married couple who reach their golden years end up just lovingly holding each other's hands. But, now that I have read the article, I stand corrected.
The report went on to say that those couple hitting the big 5-0 are more stress-free when having sex because the possibility of being pregnant. To add, they have zero fears of contracting STDs, I say this is applicable if they have monogamous partners. But then again, isn't this an...interesting news? Also, makes me feel more hopeful, you know, that when I reach that age, everything will be better. To answer the question, I say, it is a fact. You have Dr.Gail Saltz to validate that. I leave another question, how do you define better sex, anyway?
Click to watch the interview. Sorry again, the video isn't on youtube yet, again. I'll find ways.
I think that having a satisfying union at any age is a great thing. It is a way to improve the relationship, especially when you have grandchildren and intimacy is like next to oblivion. But I say that what's most important is you and your partner still embrace the love you have for each other and look beyond what the naked eye can see. And looking here means using your hearts.
There's this latest finding that more people have multiple full-time jobs. Operative phrase here is having more than one full-time job. The Today show featured an investment banker at day and an owner of a restaurant where she's also the head chef. Also, there's this high school teacher by day then works as a ramp model by night. There was also this woman working as a full-time journalist and a blogger and a speaker as well. Now, if that's not multitasking in the truest sense of the word, then I don't know what to call it anymore. Well, actually, they are now called baby boomers.
Who is the baby boomer?
A baby boomer is someone perceived to be a free spender and a high-earner at the same time. In short, they seem to be your high-earning workaholics who stashes lots of dough for everything they need and want. One tends to ask if what are they really working for anyway? But as I've come across articles and studies about baby boomers, they're actually not the mindless spender at all, they are just trying to work hard and reward themselves just like any one else. The only difference is they have more to spend.
It's not for the money
We may all think that the main reason of baby boomers for getting a second job is to have enough money to pay the bills and be able to keep something to deposit into our savings account. What struck me more is that they opt for the second or third job is because it's their passion. The other job fulfills the empty space in their lives that the first job doesn't answer. Another interesting reason about these new breed of babyboomers is that their second jobs make them feel relieved from the stress of their day jobs. We can all say that if you truly love what you're doin', then stress is non-existent.
The slash phenomenon
More and more people people are labeling their job titles in their calling cards with slashes. Like the one featured at the Today show as the journalist/blogger/speaker. These people just don't want to be limited to a single career for all their lives but want to prove that they want to do all the things they want at the same time, Luckily, they get paid to do it, and a high pay that is.l
Wish we can be part of our own world
Being one of the baby boomers, I think makes us feel more connected to ourselves. It's like, living our numerous alter egos all at the same time. This is not bad, actually. It's a dream. And I salute the babyboomers for braving the physical and mental challenges of having multiple full-time jobs. As I've said, wish I can do that as well. So, wanna be one of those baby boomers?
If you want to see bigger than life situations experienced by real people, then Hollywood is the place to be. And one of these larger than life scenarios is the plethora of celebrity custody battles.
When two Hollywood stars are seen going out, then they automatically become an item. Makes me wonder if they actually felt something for each other or were just "swayed' by the attention and the thought that they actually look good together. You can thank the psychosomatic effect of media for that. The couples then get engaged, have lavish weddings. The people and the couples thought that they have gotten the promise of Hollywood, a happily ever after life.
Happily ever after? Seems not the case.
Take a look at Britney and K-Fed, Charlie and Denise, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, and the countless divorces that are reported almost every week in entertainment shows.
Ok, so they had irreconcilable differences. But what happens after the love has gone?
The children get to be at the center of all the fiasco.
Celebrity custody battles are just a nasty as the divorces themselves. Sadly, even if the children have nothing to do with the separation, they are the ones who are treated the poorest. They are splashed in the tabloids, reported in tv shows and they have somewhat become bridges for the their parents' careers to actually blossom more. Can you imagine the effect on the children? It's bad enough to deal with the reality that your folks are hitting splitsville, it is worst to be talked about by the whole world like it's a life and death matter.
Here's my view of what brings forth bitter celebrity custody battles:
- Sensationalized media attention - by the time that the paperwork comes in, the media makes a mad dash and airs the content exclusively (at least for the first day) for all the world to see. They tend to make the unfortunate situation newsworthy when it is a private affair.
- Court papers are made public - in connection with the first reason, the court documents are made available to the public. Well technically, they are supposed to be, but the celebrities have an option to seal them so that no one except those concerned can examine the papers.
- They just won't shut up - "they" refers to the couples, their lawyers and those who report on the celebrity custody battles. They just kept on giving and airing interviews that end up in word wars which makes it more difficult for the judge to decide to whom they should grant custody. The result, the children end up going home to another house every weekend.
After the glitz and glamour, the children are the most and badly affected by celebrity custody battles. The parents themselves take their frustrations on their children, just look at what Alec Baldwin did to his daughter, Ireland. Called her a "thoughtless little pig". I'm not going to publish the conversation for the child's sake. Celebrity custody battles tend to bring the worst in parents. Children get receive the rotten fruits of the labor of separation when they should be shielded with love in the first place.
To clear the skies, Hillary Clinton didn't pay me to do this and I am not in any way affiliated to her campaign team. Actually, I wish I am.
The actual elections is still a year away. But as early as last year, the presidential hopefuls have made their intentions of running known to the American voting population. So, as an involved citizen, I have closely followed their campaign.
Ok, say that I am a woman that's why I'm for Hillary Clinton. But the gender issue is really out of the question. I see in her the change that this country needs.
Being a former first lady makes her REALLY aware of how American politics works. She was put into one of the ultimate tests of her life when the Bill-Monica affair surfaced. Surely, she knew by heart even before her husband and that time the most powerful man in the world told her in that fateful morning in their bed at the white house that he slept with his secretary. But she braved through the situation and stuck with her husband which in my POV is because she knows he needs him, and a person's main motivation to go on life is for the simple yet profound reason that he or she is needed.
My admiration for Hillary Clinton elevated during the latest democratic debate held at the University of Las Vegas. To my perception, she stood out of the rest of the hopefuls. She firmly said that she is not being criticized because she's a woman, but because she is winning. Whoa..that hit home.
She has consistently led the polls, except for the recent Iowa poll where Barrack came first. But then, it's not only Iowa who will be picking the democratic nominee. You can see in her THE passion. It's like she breathes to be the president of the home of the brave. Some analysts thought that Hillary Clinton will be the underdog because she's the only woman in the race, but she triumphed to the top and now EVERY hopeful, republican or democrat, wants to dish the dirt out of her. Well, there were futile attempts, but she ends up turning the incriminating issues to her advantage. Remember, she was criticized for her cleavage during a speaking engagement just last month. To me, that seemed sexist. I mean, would they attack a male candidate if they caught a glimpse of his chest hair? I doubt.
In the end, Hillary Clinton knows that this country needs her. Just like her husband needed her. Hillary Clinton knows what to say and what to do. You can see in her actions and in her words her passion. Throw the first stone at me if I'm wrong to say that of ALL the candidates, she has been the fish in the bowl that is not only the most watched but the most starved. In other words, she has been the most criticized. And if one is being deprived of anything, he or she, or in this case, she, will do whatever it takes to get what she deserves. And lucky for Hillary Clinton, she knows what she deserves. I say lucky because most people spend a lifetime not knowing what they truly deserve.
Larry King certainly knows how to ask THE questions. In the course of his show, Larry King Live, in CNN, you may wonder if those questions have been perceived over the top by the guests.
Let's take for example, his interview with Donny and Marie Osmond, when he surprisingly almost confirmed on live tv that Marie's 16-year old son is in rehab. Thing was, Marie was obviously taken aback and had no idea that Larry knows that. But she kept her cool, knowing that the tv legend Larry King has nothing bad against her and that he meant well. Her brother, Donny, actually said in an interview that it served as an opportunity for Marie to speak up after weeks of being mum about the issue. The Osmond siblings didn't bail out.
What happened there was Larry King was able to ASK the question.
But during the show that featured Dr. Jan Adams, Larry King wasn't able to ask any.
The doctor who performed a breast reduction procedure on Kanye West's mom, Donda, walked out from the interview just after sitting down on the hot seat across Larry King. He cited that the West family asked him not to talk. So, he did.
What's bugging is that if he was asked not to talk, why in the world did he agreed to appear in the show in the first place? Certainly, the staff of Larry King Live would have not forced him to go if he didn't want to. For all we know, Larry King would have definitely asked him 'bout his take on the death of the mother of the hiphop superstar, but then, other things would been talked about as well. This plastic surgeon has been under fire since her death. Larry King's show would have been the best and pretty credible avenue to clear his side.
Certainly, the rich and the famous, superstars, scientists, and Nobel Peace prize winners have appeared in the show before, but none of them had come to sit in the chair then announced that they can't do the show. Maybe there were who refused to appear, but they actually DIDN'T APPEAR on the show.
The nerve of him to walk out. One can only draw a conclusion that he has something to hide and that he wants to enjoy more than the 5 minutes of shameful fame.
Click here to see the very short-lived interview.
So sorry, it's not in youtube as of my previous search. What's important is that you'll be able to see. :)
Have lots of things in my mind, really. Anyway, this is my first ever post and first time to use vox to host my blog. I watched the American Music Awards, who didn't anyway?. So,ok, I watched it and after that I have this inkling to let the world know how I felt about it. Really enjoyed the last part, where Beyonce and Sugaland had a duet at the American Music Awards, we're on first name basis. mind you..:)
Their version really rocked and I watched it on youtube for like 20 times..consecutively. Rhianna's and Chris' duet was really good as well. Thought Rhianna was alluring. Jimmy's dancing to the Soldier Boys was hilarious, except that he shouldn't have dragged Kelly and Jordin to the stage, they look liked helpless and un-updated girls there. Operative word,un-updated..I mean, Soldier Boys is the latest dance craze. Still learning how to do it, though.
It's fashion, you can't take it too seriously.
I'm borrowing this line from Ellen (Ellen Pompeo), so here's my verdict on the American Music Awards attendee's choice of wardrobe.
Ok, she looks good, but I would really love to see her to something that's not so shiny for a change. Maybe the cleavage's a little too flowing.
Seems like a sister act, in the fashion sense. She and her sister must have talked on what colors to wear. But this dress is totally unflattering. The shoes..She could just brought a purse to justify the shoes. But then, her skin looks nice.
Like the color, but I doubt if I can breathe with the turtle-neck.
Though in this picture his whole outfit can't be seen, thought that the face speaks by itself. He wore all black and he just looks so devastatingly handsome. He was the only guy I found irresistible that night at the American Music Awards so he's the only one I posted.
Amidst so many thoughts in my head, this is the one on the American Music Awards that keeps on circling around so I though I should write about it. Will really try my hardest to blog on a daily basis, but as all bloggers know, even if you're a pro in blogging, doing it every day is a different story.
